The star of the show for me, and the magic I couldn’t take my eyes off of, was that of the Aloran. I was actually not that into the Ahiranyi magic, it was fine, a kind of earthen magic born of dark waters. Her intense interactions with Malini were something to be savored and their understanding of each other’s drives and desires was on point. Priya was the most compelling to me as she was clearly hiding something and I wanted to unravel her secrets. Overall, it ended up working, it was just a lot to take in at the beginning. Chapters shift to different characters and sometimes a character will only get one chapter of perspective. ![]() I have to admit that in the beginning I thought there were maybe too many perspectives. ![]()
